A lot of new construction homes in the Las Vegas area come with one thing in common - a completely bare backyard. No grass, no patio, just dirt and a blank slate. That's exactly what this homeowner was working with, and they had a clear vision for what they wanted. A modern, clean outdoor space that actually gets used. The challenge was making that happen at a realistic price point.

The original design was closer to $20,000. We went back to the drawing board with the homeowner and figured out where we could make smarter material choices without gutting the overall look. What we ended up with came in right around $10,000 - and honestly, nothing about this space feels like a budget compromise. It looks intentional from every angle.
Here's what went into it: Viridian Green artificial turf for that deep, rich green you'd expect from real grass - without the water bill. A concrete paver patio laid in a herringbone pattern to anchor the outdoor living area. Spring Mountain decorative rock covering the ground throughout, which stays clean, reflects heat well, and holds up in the Las Vegas climate. We also added 17 desert plants selected specifically for this region, plus a new drip irrigation system to keep everything healthy with minimal effort on the homeowner's end.

The side yard got attention too. A paver pathway runs the length of the home leading into the backyard gate - clean lines, well-executed, no shortcuts. Every element in this yard was placed with purpose. The stepping stones through the rock, the plant placement near the patio edges, the way the turf sits flush against the decorative rock - it all adds up to a space that feels finished and well thought out.

This is the kind of work we do for homeowners all across Las Vegas and Henderson. If you've got a new build with nothing in the backyard, or you're just tired of staring at dirt, this is proof that a great-looking outdoor space doesn't have to cost a fortune. Smart design decisions make the difference.
